Gold prices hit VND19 million per tael
SJC gold prices on June 27 rose by VND300,000 per tael compared to June 26 transactions, reaching around VND19 million per tael, according to Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC).
In the free market, gold prices also fluctuated at between VND19 - 19.1 million per tael compared to VND18.65 - 18.81 million per tael late on June 26.
Meanwhile, the gold price opened at VND19.08 million per tael on the Sai Gon gold trading floor on June 27, but fell the same day to VND18.96 million per tael.
Experts attributed the increasing domestic gold prices to the fluctuations in world gold prices and the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Vietnam Dong in the free market. The New York market also saw a rise of US$20/oz to close at US$918/oz on June 26.
