VN-Index loses 1.42% to drop below 510 points
The domestic stock market continued its free plunge as the VN-Index of the southern bourse closed down a sharp 1.42% or 7.73 points at 507.94.
Almost all stocks dropped with a majority of them hitting floor prices. Specifically, of the total 154 listed stocks, only four managed gains, eight stayed unchanged, one had no trade and 141 suffered losses.
Trading volume continued to be low, with only 4.4 million shares and fund certificates traded via order matching method for nearly VND 216 billion.
Only one large-cap stock VPL was among the only four gainers today, together with TMS, DPR and SCD.
DPM continued to be the most active stock with 835,170 shares matched, followed by PPC (398,510 units); SHC (240,510 units), PVD (229,810 units) and VSH (210,150 units).
Foreign investors still occupied for a large proportion of shares traded today, though the volume decreased compared to yesterday’s. They bought 2.65 million shares worth VND 142 billion while sold over 182,000 shares and fund certificates worth VND 15 billion.
On the northern bourse, the HASTC-Index slipped 3.19 points for 1.99% to end down at 157.42. Only nearly 800,000 shares listed on the bourse were traded today for merely VND 25.6 billion. Only four stocks saw gains, 26 others stayed still and 106 finished.
