PM urges ministry to speed up bond issue
The proposed 10 trillion VND (625 million USD) government bond issue will help Ho Chi Minh City speed up infrastructure projects, according to the Government’s Office.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the Ministry of Finance to speed up the issue that will provide funds for the city to acquire land, the office said.
The PM had also approved a plan to invite investment in a project to build a waste-water treatment plant for the Tham Luong-Ben Cat area.
The project will be in Build-Transfer (BT) mode.
Another key work requiring funding is the second phase of the Tham Luong-Ben Cat-Nuoc Len Canal project that will address environmental problems.
The PM also instructed Ho Chi Minh City to ensure sufficient supply of essential goods for both consumption and production –such as electricity, fuel, steel and food.
He called for preventing smuggling and trade frauds that forced prices up and caused chaos in the market.
He told the city administration to cut official spending by 10 percent by reducing the number of meetings, official trips, and receptions, and use of telephones and official cars.
