Index halves to below 450 points
The VN-Index at the country’s main bourse – Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange – lost 6.43 points to drop to 449.24 points on May 20, the 12th consecutive trading session to follow an ongoing slide.
The index so far this year has halved to fall below the 450 point benchmark.
Large-scale offers still dominated and many shares were bartered away at half price as compared with offers at the beginning of the year.
Just 2.6 million shares worth 95 billion VND were traded during the session.
Among 151 shares and 3 fund certificates listed, 10 made gains, nine were unchanged, and 132 saw losses while three had no transactions.
Foreign investors’ purchase was slim with some 800,000 shares bought.
On the Hanoi-based bourse, the HaSTC-Index lost 2.53 points to finish at 135.21 points.
Some 1.13 million shares worth 25.5 billion VND changed hands.
