New bond, property indices launched
Bien Viet Securities has launched two new indices for bond and property markets, which should help investors better grasp the effects of the recent property surge on local exchanges.
The two new indices are named CBV Fixed Income and CBV Viet Nam Real Estate. According to Vu Duc Nghia, deputy CEO of the company, there is no denying that the recent swell of property prices is having an impact on the securities market.
"We set up new indices for real estate to have a benchmark so that we can advise our customers on investing on the exchange," he said.
CBV Real Estate index is based on two criteria, with one factor considering the surging properties of Ha Noi and HCM City, and the other criterion considering the type of real estate; office, retail or warehouse.
CBV Fixed Income will focus on different kinds of bonds, including government and corporate bonds.
Nguyen Kim Trinh, an analyst from the corporation, said that the country’s bond market is not developing up to its potential considering its relative security.
"With the project to set up a separate bond market from the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre, we expect the new indices should help open the bond market to more investors and enterprises," Trinh said.
Establishing a new market should help diversify channels of mobilising capital, contributing to the stronger development of the local stock exchange.
The corporation has also upgraded the indices for the equities market to a new system called Viet Nam Finance Indices. The new indices comprise of 300 sub indices.
