Stock market bounces on first trading session of November
Electric trading boards were bathed in green as many stocks on both bourses gained on the first trading session of November.
In Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, upbeat signs were seen right at the beginning of the trading session. Ending the first order matching phase, the market indicator increased 9.37 points.
Closing the session, the Index ended up at 1,075.92 points, up 10.83 points or 1.02% million units values at 1,149 billion dong.
The number of the stocks that gained doubled those that lost. Of the total 123 listed stocks, there were 66 advancers, 32 decliners and 25 stills. However, trading volume and value were both down. Only 10.76 shares were matched at a total value of VND 1.15 trillion.
The two stocks in the pharmaceutical sector, DHG and IMP, continued to increase impressively. In terms of price, DHG was the top gainers. DHG was up 24,000 (4.82%) to VND 522,000 a share while IMP gained 4.6% (VND 10,000) to VND 228,000 a share.
The consecutive gains of these stocks are due to their good business performance in the third quarter. DHG’s third quarter profits increased by 65% over the same period last year. Yesterday, DHG and IMP were also among the big gainers, closing the session up VND 23,000 (4.84%) and VND 10,000 (4.8%) to close at VND 498,000 and VND 218,000, respectively
Other big earners include SSI (up VND 13,000 a share), SFI (up VND 11,000) and KDC (up VND 10,000).
SSI was also the second most heavily traded stock with 887,420 shared traded at 278,000 a share. STB led the top active stock by volume with over 1.24 million shares changing hands at VND 69,500 a share, up VND 2,000 a share compared to the previous session.
HBC was the top loser today, down VND 8,000 a share to VND 127,000 a share. BMP was the second biggest loser, down VND 5,000 a share, followed by BBC and RIC (down VND 4,000) and TAC (down VND 3,000).
The HASTC-Index in the northern bourse made an impressive increase today, up 3.79% or 14.38 points to 393.59 points.
The number of gainers outstripped that of losers with up to 70 stocks in the green while only 19 in the red and 3 others stayed unchanged.
Turnover was 5.2 million shares worth over VND 631 billion.
