SSI leaves Ha Noi bourse to go south
Saigon Securities Inc was listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange on Oct. 29, becoming the first company of its kind listed on the exchange.
Previously it was listed on the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre, but left the board on Oct. 12, closing at 250,000 VND.
Oct. 29’s price was established at 285,000 VND and its trade volume totalled nearly 2.855 million shares, the largest quantity among 121 listed companies.
SSI was one of the three first securities companies beginning operation in 2000, with an initial chartered capital of 6 billion VND.
That has increased to almost 800 billion VND (50 million USD), Chairman Nguyen Duy Hung, said the company planned to boost the capital to 1.5 trillion VND this year.
The company offers brokerage service to around 20 percent of the trade volume at the HCM City Stock Exchange and 25 percent of the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre.
Nearly 50 percent of foreign investors have trading accounts with SSI.
Hung also announced that the company was the most successful among 60 securities companies in providing consultancy for equitisation, listing and underwriting.
As of this year’s first nine months, it offered issuance consultancy to its customers, who collected 10 trillion VND from their share issues.
SSI has set up a fund management company and 10 institutional investors have recently registered to contribute 10 million USD to its member fund only two weeks after the announcement of the fund.
Nguyen Hong Nam , SSI’s managing director, said he hoped to receive a license for the fund this week and then invest all the money in six months.
In the first nine months, SSI netted a profit of 769 billion VND, compared to 242 billion VND of last year.
