Blue chips keep market growing

Vietnamese shares kept growing on Tuesday morning, driven by large-cap companies.

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 0.66 per cent to 958.29 points.

The southern bourse rose 1.46 per cent on Monday.

Large-cap stocks boosted the southern market in the morning session.

The blue-chip tracker VN30-Index was up 0.72 per cent to 924.03 points.

Twenty-one of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and trading liquidity increased while five declined.

Among large-cap gainers were aviation firm Vietjet (VJC), Vincom Retail (VRE), SSI Securities (SSI), PetroVietnam Gas (GAS) and HDBank (HDB).

Positive growth of large-cap companies drove mid-cap and small-cap sectors up, which added 0.50 per cent and 0.19 per cent, respectively.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 0.39 per cent to 142.16 points.

The northern market index soared 1.65 per cent on Monday.
