Shares gain on buying demand

Shares maintained rally on Tuesday morning thanks to the strong buying demand focused on large-cap stocks.

 

The VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 0.11 per cent to end morning session at 908.90 points.

It had risen 0.78 per cent to end the trading session at 907.94 points.

Nearly 229.4 million shares were traded on southern bourse, worth VNĐ3.8 trillion (US$163.7 million).

Market breadth was negative with 146 gainers and 220 decliners.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, increased 0.27 per cent to close Tuesday at 853.86 points.

Many pillar stocks outperformed and supported the market, including dairy firm Vietcombank (VCB), Techcombank (TCB), Sabeco (SAB), Mobile World Group, Military Bank (MBB) and HDBank (HDB).

The minor HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange rose 0.84 per cent to end Tuesday morning at 131.67 points.

Nearly 39.7 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND519.3 billion.
