Spanish businesses eye transport area in Vietnam
A delegation of 12 Spanish businesses will visit Vietnam from March 23-28 to learn about possibilities to become one of the leading providers of transport technology solutions in Vietnam.
Vietnam and Thailand are two stopovers in their survey, according to the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Equipment and Services for the Railway Industry (MAFEX) – the organization to conduct the survey.
In each country, the delegation will meet representatives of the transport management agencies to express their keen interest in projects to modernize the railway infrastructure and improve the quality of urban transport. In addition, the delegation will meet local businesses to establish cooperative relations.
MAFEX said that Vietnam has attracted Spain’s railway businesses as it has a plan to link railway routes to Cambodia and China in future. In April 2010, both countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in transport infrastructure on the occasion of Minister of Transport Ho Nghia Dung’s visit to Spain.
In another development, a delegation of 15 Spanish businesses will also visit Vietnam on March 26-27 to study the Asian market including Indonesia and Thailand. The survey was conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tarragona city in Catalonia.
