Vietnam to facilitate ties with Angola
Viet Nam would create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese and Angolan enterprises to foster co-operation and strengthen bilateral relations in the time ahead, said Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan at a business forum yesterday.
Viet Nam and Angola were both open markets with untapped potentials for the two countries' enterprises to expand their businesses, Doan said.
Angolan Vice President Fernando Dias Dos Santos spoke highly of the business community's contribution to economic development in Angola, saying that new partnerships to be established between enterprises from the two countries in the near future would help bring co-operation to a new height.
Bilateral relations, especially in trade and investment, have experienced encouraging growth rates over the past years, said the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Vu Tien Loc.
Two-way trade last year reached US$100 million, and included Vietnamese exports such as rice, garments, footwear, seafood, machinery and equipment.
Loc described yesterday's forum as a good chance for the firms to exchange new co-operation opportunities.
Yesterday also saw the signing of a co-operation agreement inked between CMS Construction & Industry Equipment Joint-Stock Co and Angolan Tamar Lda Co. Under the agreement, the two sides would co-ordinate to build apartments worth up to US$3 billion for Angolan Ministry of Defence servicemen.
