First New Year shipment through Lao Cai int’l border gate

The first shipment of products weighing 256 tonnes was handled through Lao Cai international border gate on January 23 – the first day of the lunar New Year festival.

This is one of the first shipments of products imported to Vietnam from China.

Despite the first day of the lunar New Year, the Customs Service of the border gate deployed staff on duty to handle import-export procedures, shortening the clearance time and facilitating traffic through the gate.

In 2011 the Customs Service handed in more than VND650 billion to the State budget. It was a record figure thanks to changes in tax policies for import-export products.

In addition, e-customs services have been applied to enable businesses to get easier access to information on customs policies and procedures.
