Rubber exports likely to exceed 3.6 billion USD

Vietnam expects to export 820,000 tonnes of rubber worth over 3.6 billion USD this year compared to last year’s 2.3 billion USD, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has said.

According to the MARD’s Computer and Statistics Centre, the country shipped an estimated 80,000 tonnes of rubber in September, earning 342 million USD, raising the total rubber export in the first nine months to 530,000 tonnes worth 2.3 billion USD, up 3.3 percent in volume and 61.1 percent in value against the same period last year.

China remains Vietnam ’s leading natural rubber importer with 274,834 tonnes worth 1.17 billion USD in the first eights months, accounting for 61 percent of China ’s market share.

The rubber industry has seen exports to most market growing and is making efforts to seek new partners.

Vietnam currently has 800,000 hectares of rubber trees.
