Vietnam expects to earn US$5.3 billion from aquatic exports in 2011

The export of aquatic products in the first four months of this year hit US$1.6 billion, up 29 percent against the same period last year.

To fulfil its target for the whole year, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters & Producers (VASEP) has asked businesses to expand the breeding areas as a precaution against the shortage of raw materials in the coming months.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Le Phuong suggest they need to improve the quality of products and lower input costs by way of cutting down waste in production.
