Fruit, vegetable exports surge in first four months
Viet Nam earned US$213 million from exports of fruit and vegetables during the first four months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 44.1 per cent, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Exports of fruits and vegetables to the US, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand have seen several modest breakthroughs.
The US has allowed imports of fresh rambutan from Viet Nam, while Japan and South Korea have given authorisation to imports of fresh blue dragon fruit and New Zealand has allowed imports of fresh mango from Viet Nam.
Thanks to those developments, the country is expected to earn over $500 million in exports of fruits and vegetables for the whole year.
