Rail fares to rise next week
According to Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice-Director of Saigon Railway Station, starting next week, ticket prices will increase by 10%-15% for sleeping-car users and air-conditioned cushioned-seat users and 5% for passengers in other categories.
In addition, to meet the higher demand for its services during the upcoming King Hung Vuong festival, the company will add 4,000 more tickets for the HCMC- Nha Trang route and 9,500 more for holiday makers during the Independence Day holiday on April 30th.
The new fees are expected to take effect on April 8.
At the same time, Mien Dong and Mien Tay Bus companies have sent an official note to relevant administration officials and transportation businesses, proposing a 40% increase in transportation fare for passengers travelling from HCMC to other provinces from April 29 to May 1.
