Lao company to build construction industry brick by brick
The Chitchaleun Construction Company will invest US$3 million in the construction of a brick factory in Hadkieng village of Xaythany District, Vientiane.
A ceremony was held on Friday to mark the beginning of construction, which will be complete within eight months, according to company Director Mr. Somvang Vongvilay.
He said the factory will produce high quality bricks for supply to construction companies and projects in different provinces around the country.
The company is involved in both small and large construction projects in Vientiane and other provinces and believes there is a need for high quality construction bricks, said Mr. Somvang.
“Once the factory is completed and operational, we plan to produce four types of bricks and manufacture up to 40 million bricks a year,” he said.
The company is planning a second stage for the factory to start producing bricks to be used for paving, private and public landscaping projects and decoration, Mr. Somvang said.
The factory will contribute to developing the construction industry in Laos, said Vientiane Vice Mayor Somvandy Nathavong at the opening ceremony.
At present, the number of buildings in Laos is increasing, so there is a need for high quality and long lasting construction materials, he said.
At present, many Lao people use poor quality cheap bricks, said Mr. Somvandy.
Also on Friday, the company opened a new restaurant, which is located in Dongnaxok Tay village of Sikhottabong District.
