EVN purchases 8.98 billion KWh from foreign countries

Electricity output for consumption in the first two months of the year output reached nearly 15.8 billion kWh, up 13.5 percent compared to last year’s figure, according to the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

To ensure the normal distribution of electricity, the EVN had to purchase an additional 8.98 billion kWh, including 956 million kWh from China, (Up 28.89 percent compared to the same period last year). In addition, the amount of electricity consumption in the industry and construction sectors increased by 21.41 percent and that by the management and consumer sectors by 8.54 percent.

The EVN warned that there might be serious power shortages in the dry season this year.
