Czech businesses confident in Vietnamese market
The Vietnam-Czech Business forum took place on March 8 aiming to further boost cooperation between enterprises in the two countries, particularly in the fields of energy, nuclear power, construction materials and medical care.
At the forum, Czech senator Vitezslav Jonas stressed that there is still a lot of potential for developing trade ties between Vietnam and the Czech Republic toward deep and wide economic integration.
Mr Jonas told the meeting that, with its flexible economic structure, Vietnam serves as a bridge for Czech goods to enter the ASEAN markets, while the Czech Republic provides a gateway for Vietnamese commodities to penetrate the European market.
The senator also said that his country’s businesses believe Vietnam is a good trade partner with a stable investment climate and diligent workers. He pledged to do his best to raise export turnovers.
In recent years, Vietnam and the Czech Republic have seen steady growth in their two-way trade revenues, which surged from about US$156 million in 2009 to more than US$200 million in 2010.
In 2010, Vietnam shipped some $135 million worth of products to the Czech Republic such as farm produce, seafood, textiles and garments, footwear, handicrafts and computer parts.
