Airline Pacific told to change logo ... or else

The Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam has ordered low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific to change the logo on its six aircraft by September 15.

A spokesman for the agency said it is the date that the carrier's licence expires and for renewal, it must have repainted the aircraft and changed its trademark and logo.

Le Song Lai, General Manager of JP, said the airline has pulled down its billboards and advertisements at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports in Ha Noi and HCM City.

It will hire a foreign consultancy to design its new logo and new trademark, he said.

The cost of painting a logo on an aircraft is between US$150,000 and $250,000, Lai added.

The administration has warned JP several times against using the "Jet" logo and the orange star, saying this could cause customers to confuse it with Australia's Jetstar Airways.
