Mekong Capital invests in int’l school

Mekong Enterprises Fund II announced it has invested in the Vietnam-Australia International School last Wednesday.

The US$50 million fund, managed by Mekong Capital, committed to investing US$6 million into the school to help develop facilities and programs, representatives from the company said.

The firm said the institution aims to attract Vietnamese students from the growing middle class in the south of Vietnam.

The school, founded in 2004, operates a chain of 12 units in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring k-12 institutions where 5,000 kids and students are studying international and Vietnamese curricula.

The fund, which focuses on private and listed Vietnamese companies with a minority investment representing 20-30 percent of the equity, has invested in 16 private businesses such as International Consumer Products, AA Construction Architecture, Minh Phuc, Mobile World, and five listed firms including PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation and Phu Nhuan Jewelry.
