VNPT holds lead amongst Vietnam’s telecom firms
With a revenue of nearly VND45.3 trillion (US$2.5 billion) last year, the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) is taking the lead in providing telecommunication and Internet services, statistics showed.
Following the VNPT are the Military Telecom Corporation (Viettel) with a revenue of VND33 trillion ($1.8 billion), Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) with VND3.7 trillion ($208 million), and the Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC) with VND3 trillion ($168.7 million), according to statistics by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
In terms of landline subscription, VNPT accounts for 70.98 percent of market share, followed by EVN (15.51 percent), Viettel (12.50 percent) and Saigon Postel Corporation (SPT) (1.01 percent).
In terms of mobile subscription, VNPT’s market share is 51.85 percent, Viettel’s is 30.87 percent, SPT’s is 8.56 percent and EVN’s is 1.52 percent.
For the market share of broadband Internet subscription, VNPT holds 58.25 percent, Viettel 16.76 percent and FPT Group 15.38 percent.
