Hong Kong businesses to seek opportunities in VN

A delegation of 24 Hong Kong leading real estate and shipping enterprises will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City from Feb. 25-28 to seek business cooperation opportunities.

The city-based Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will co-organise a seminar on shipping and real estate on Feb. 26.

The seminar, to be chaired by Eva Cheng, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Minister of Transport and Housing, will focus on cooperation opportunities between the two sides’ enterprises in these sectors while informing them of the current challenges.

Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Hong Kong in the first 11 months of 2008 reached 3.41 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, reported the Vietnamese General Consulate in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong currently is ranked seventh among foreign investors in Vietnam with 494 projects totalling 6.32 billion USD in registered capital.
