China’s second Commodities Fair 2008 in Hanoi

China’s second Commodities Fair 2008 opened in Hanoi on July 10 with the aim of introducing its high quality goods to the Vietnamese market.

Speaking at the four-day fair, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien affirmed that Vietnam will create favourable conditions for Chinese enterprises to cooperate with Vietnamese partners for mutual benefits, contributing to deepening neighbouring relationship between the two countries.

The Chairman of the China Trade Union He Qihai said that the trade and economic relations between Vietnam and China have strongly developed with their two-way trade turnover reaching US$10.42 billion in 2006 and US$15.85 billion in 2007, surpassing the set target for US$15 billion by 2010. He also expressed hope that the fair will help enterprises learn more about each other and offer business opportunities.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast that two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China would reach US$17.6 billion by 2010, and US$30 billion and US$50 billion by 2015 and 2020, respectively.
